Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho, along with Cai Be market (Tien Giang) and Long Xuyen market (An Giang) is one of the three largest floating markets in Can Tho. A unique feature of the Cai Rang floating market is that it specializes in selling many kinds of fruits – specialties of the Mekong River delta.
Cai Rang floating market is located on Cai Rang river, near the Cai Rang bridge, about 6 kilometers by land from Can Tho city center. It takes you about 30 minutes to go by boat from Ninh Kieu Pier to Cai rang market. Like other floating markets in the Mekong Delta, the establishment of the market is aimed at meeting the needs for shopping and exchanging goods of the locals in case the road transport has not strongly developed.

For example, if the boat sells sweet potatoes, the seller will hang some potatoes on the pole. It is also similar to other kinds of fruits or commodities. This is the way the local people show and advertise their products.
The market becomes the most crowded around 7 to 8 a.m. The market almost does not go into business on Tết Nguyên Đán (the 1st and 2nd day) and Tết Đoan Ngọ (May 5th of Lunar Calendar). Due to high needs of consumers, the market provides not only kinds of fruits and agricultural products but also many other types of services, for instance, some food like phở, noodles, coffee and even floating pubs. These boats have small size and offer services to both buyers and tourists.
