Spreading over four districts of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, Meo Vac, Dong Van karst plateau is recognized as the Global Geopark in 2010. This is one of the special karst areas which contain typical marks of the historical development of the Earth’s crust, natural phenomena, biological diversity and long-standing cultural traditions of indigenous communities such as H’mong, Lo Lo, Pu Peo and Yao. The karst plateau is also home to many national monuments including the Vuong family mansion, Lung Cu Flag Tower, Dong Van town, Ma Pi Leng Pass and Quan Ba Twin Mountain. Besides, Dong Van is also famous for a variety of fruits like peaches, plums, pears, apples and kakis and some types of pharmaceutical products like pseudoginseng, anise and cinnamon.

Vuong family mansion, which is located in Sa Phin commune is a beautiful and unique construction. The path to the mansion is paved with large square flat flagstones. The mansion is surrounded by two layers of freestone walls. The mansion is mainly constructed by blue stone, fokienia, terracotta tiles, meticulously sculpted patterns in the shape of dragon, phoenix and bats that symbolize the wealth and the prosperity. The palace is magnificent and majestic in size and designed in the special architecture with the word “vương” (King) lying on a hill in the shape of tortoise shell. This is a typical example of the combination of architecture of H’mong and Han people in the border of Vietnam and China.

Khau Vai love market is held once a year on March 27 of the lunar calendar in Khau Vai Commune, Meo Vac district. The establishment of the market is closely related to a love story, therefore, Khau Vai becomes a common dating place for all the lovers in the region. At first, Khau Vai market has not run business activities. In recent 10 years, to meet the demand for goods exchange, types of commodities have been shown for sale at the market. Quite a few people go to the Khau Vai market to buy, sell and exchange upland products.

Trong Con Subregion

20 kilometers from the Highway 2 to the southeast, and about 60 kilometers from the Ha Giang city center to the north; Trong Con subregion belongs to Bang Hanh commune, Bac Quang district, Ha Giang province and was regarded as a historical monument by the Vietnamese government in 1996. Moreover, this is considered the cradle of the revolutionary movement in Ha Giang province.

Sung Khanh pagoda

9 kilometers from Ha Giang city center to the south, Sung Khanh pagoda is a part of Lang Nung village, Dao Duc commune, Vi Xuyen district and was ranked as one of the historical relics in 1993. This pagoda was built in the period of Trieu Phong (1356). As time went by the pagoda was damaged and until 1989, Sung Khanh pagoda was rebuilt on the foundation of the previous pagoda. Here the two relics have been preserved. The first one is the stone stele of Tran Dynasty (1367) that recorded the contribution of the pagoda founder. The other one is a bell with the height of 0.9 meters and the diameter of 0.67 meters. Stone and bronze bell carving and casting are the clear evidence of the skillful handling of the artisans in the northern border.

Ha Giang is home to many traditional unique cultural products of more than 20 ethnic groups and seen as a memorable tourist destination due to the natural landscape and the local people. Coming to Ha Giang, tourists can see the products that crystallize all the outstanding cultural traditions of the mountainous region. They are embroidered cloth, haversack, dress decorated with various kinds of colorful patterns. Furthermore, visitors will experience great moments if attending poetic upland markets.
