Trinh Nu Cave (Virgin Cave)

Hang Trinh Nu together with the system of caves such as Sung Sot cave, Dong Tien lake, Luon cave belongs to Bo Hon island, which is 15 kilometers from Bai Chay – Halong Bay. The name of Trinh Nu cave  (Virgin Cave) originates from the anecdote of a love story of a couple. The love story is romantic but tragic. The end of the story is that the girl died and petrified but from inside the cave, her eyes always watch her lover. Facing the Virgin cave is Trong cave, where the boy died.

According to this story, when visiting the Virgin cave, in the middle of the cave, visitors can see the statue of the petrified girl with her eyes toward Trong cave. Occasionally, visitors may hear some strange sounds from cliffs. This cave is seen as the symbol of love by couples. Many couples also select this place to give the promise of genuine and eternal love to each other. In addition, this site is an ideal stopover for the fishermen on the waters of Halong Bay.

Sung Sot Cave

Sung Sot Cave is considered one of the most beautiful caves in Halong Bay. Sung Sot Cave is located on Bo Hon island in the central area of Halong Bay. Before going to Sung Sot Cave, visitors will have to go through the thick forest canopy and steep rock steps. Sung Sot Cave has an area of about 10,000 square meters with two main compartments. The first one is like a large theater where its ceiling is covered with “velvet carpet” and has a lot of hanging lamps created by shimmering stalagmites and stalactites.

Dau Go Cave

Dau Go cave is also known as Giau Go cave. One of the legends of this name is that in the past, this cave was used to be the hiding place of ironwood to prepare for the battle of Tran Hung Dao against Mongol invasions of Vietnam. Dau Go Cave brings majestic beauty like a miraculous painting.

It can be said that Dau Go Cave is home to ancient architecture with stone pillars and immeasurably high stalagmites. From the distance, you can see the blue cave mouth and jellyfish on the water in Halong Bay. Visitors have to go through 90 stone steps to reach the cave entrance. The cave has three main compartments, the cave ceiling is about 25 meters in height and there are many breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites hanging down from the ceiling, which looks like an amazing stone waterfall.

Halong Bay with 1,969 large and small islands together with beautiful caves is regarded as a great tourist destination for both domestic and international visitors. Many of the caves on the islands have been exploited for tourism and annually draw a host of tourists.
