With beautiful and unique architecture carrying typical Asian identities, Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts is a place for artworks display of typical ancient and modern Vietnam. Establishment of Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts
In 1962, the Fine Arts Academy was established by the Ministry of Culture and placed at No.38 Cao Ba Quat street, Hanoi. Besides, the villa at No.66 Nguyen Thai Hoc street would be used as Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts. On June 26, 1966, Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts was inaugurated five main forms including stone, bronze, Iron at early age; decoration of ethnic costumes; the art in feudal era from the 11th to the 19th century with the dynasties of Ly, Tran, Le and Nguyen; folk craft arts and industrial arts and Vietnamese contemporary and modern visual arts.Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts
During 45 years of establishment and development, Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts has attained remarkable achievements. In recent years, there has been a considerable change of Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts so that it can fulfill functions and tasks of a modern museum. In particular, the museum has collected many works representing the new trend of dynamism and diversity of contemporary young artists in Vietnam.
Development of Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts
The display and introduction of works are continuously promoted and upgraded. The area of the museum has changed from 1,000 square meters in early period to 3,000 square meters in these days. In addition, the number of objects on display increases up to 2,000 exhibits and selected works of high artistic value help to intensify the aesthetic effect of the exhibition system. The system of lighting is installed following the international standard. Attractive objects arranged in chronologic sequence and types of material and forms of arts attracts thousands of domestic and international tourists every year. Over past years, besides the enhancement of specialist activities, Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts created different relationships and cooperation with related museums in other countries abroad. This action is aimed at exchanging and learning experiences and introducing precious art collections around the world and bringing a host of art collections to the world with countries such as Japan, U.S, Spain, Italy, South Korea and Singapore.
After 45 years of construction and development, Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts has become an art center and is one of first-ranking museum in Vietnam. It can be said that this site is the retention and the promotion of the quintessence of Vietnamese arts.
