The distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc is about 500 kilometers. It is suggested that you should choose the following routes:
Route 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Rach Gia – Phu Quoc
There are two stages for this route:
From Ho Chi Minh City to Rach Gia:
This route is about 225 kilometers in length. From Ho Chi Minh City, you move toward Binh Chanh district, then turn into Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway. After going a distance of 50 kilometers, you turn right into Highway 1A. Going straight about 5 kilometers, you will reach My Tho city, Tien Giang province. From My Tho, you follow Highway 1A. Moving about 65 kilometers, you get to My Thuan bridge, Vinh Long province. After that, you turn right and follow Highway 80 that will take you go through Sa Dec city, Dong Thap province and Vam Cong ferry terminal. The total length of road is about 51 kilometers. After passing Vam Cong, An Giang, you move two kilometers to approach Lo Te crossroad, Can Tho city. From here, you continue to go along Highway 80 to reach Rach Gia City, Kien Giang Province with a distance of 66 kilometers.
If traveling by a motorbike, you take starting point from Ho Chi Minh City, then follow Binh Chanh. At the Binh Thuan junction, you turn into Highway 1A. Moving more 16 kilometers, you get to Ben Luc bridge, which is about 14 kilometers from Tan An city, Long An. From here, you go additional 16 kilometers to get to My Tho city, Tien Giang province. Then, following the above-mentioned route will take you to Rach Gia city.
From Rach Gia to Phu Quoc
From Rach Gia, you buy high-speed ship ticket at Rach Gia station to reach Phu Quoc. It will take you about 2 hours 30 minutes.
Second route: Ho Chi Minh City – Ha Tien – Phu Quoc
This route has a length of approximately 310 kilometers with two stages:
From Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Tien:
From Ho Chi Minh City, you follow the first route to come to Rach Gia. Then, you continue to go along Highway 80 to Ha Tien town. This road is nearly 90 kilometers long and it takes you about 2 hours by car.
From Ha Tien to Phu Quoc:
In Ha Tien, you can choose to take a ferry or a speed boat to Phu Quoc. If traveling by ferry, you depart at 8:20 at Thanh Thoi ferry terminal. The travel time lasts about 2 hours. If moving by a high-speed ship, you choose the starting point from Ha Tien station. To reach Phu Quoc, it will take you about one hour.
– Third route:
Besides, you can get to Phu Quoc from Ho Chi Minh City by plane. At Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City, there is just a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc. The duration of the flight is about 1 hour 5 minutes.
